I asked my readers to take an online survey earlier this month about what they struggle with when it comes to decorating, and one of the things that so many of you mentioned is finding affordable wall art.
Here’s what you guys told me:
- “I know I need art in our home but I keep putting it off because it is expensive, especially when you consider hidden costs like framing.”
- “I have a hard time finding affordable artwork that I like.”
- “I’m scared to commit. We have nothing on our walls and it’s so embarrassing when we have friends and family over!”
I can relate to every single one of those statements.
For example, when we tackled our master bedroom makeover earlier this year but set a strict budget for ourselves, I had a tough time finding wall art that I really loved enough to put on our walls that also wouldn’t bust our budget. (All the details about the room and the art we ended up choosing can be found right here.)
And when I was decorating my son’s nursery, I fell in completely in love with a couple prints from Minted that were, well, pricey because I needed them (and frames!) in large sizes. I set aside some money every month for his nursery decor fund so that I didn’t feel guilty about making such a large purchase. (Here’s his full room reveal.)
I also have been known to procrastinate when it comes to adding wall decor to a room. When we moved into our current home, it literally took me a year to hang the gallery wall of prints above our sofa. A year! And truth be told, I’m still not sure I totally love it.
The bottom line? Finding great yet affordable wall art can be hard.
That’s why I want to share with you guys my five favorite online shops for finding budget-friendly wall art. Because not many people I know have the kind of cash money needed to walk into an art gallery and drop $500 on an original painting.
Many of my favorite shops offer downloadable prints in multiple sizes for one single price (awesome!), along with options to customize print colors so that your artwork coordinates perfectly with your space.
MY FAVORITE ONLINE SHOPS FOR BUDGET-FRIENDLY WALL ART
Guys, this one might be my favorite. Jenny’s Print Shop — founded by Jenny Komenda of the blog Little Green Notebook — stocks a gorgeous mix of downloadable prints. When you purchase a print (and most are priced at $15), you get a zip file emailed to you with multiple sizes of the print, and then you can print it in any size that your heart desires (and over and over again!).
All of the artwork in this shop is stunning. It’s like the perfectly curated mix of prints where each one actually makes you pause and think to yourself, “Wow, that is super cool.” And for the record, that’s rarely how I feel when shopping for wall art, so this shop is the exception.
I also appreciate that she offers a nice variety of prints, ranging from modern botanicals and abstract designs to more traditional landscapes and portraits. Regardless of your style, I know you’ll find something awesome in Jenny’s collection.
I don’t usually like to give my decorating style a label, but if you’ve read my blog for a while or you follow me on Instagram you know that I am generally into fresh, colorful, and somewhat modern spaces.
And that’s basically the exact kind of art that Oh Finale stocks, which explains why I like this shop so freakin’ much.
Similar to Jenny’s Print Shop, you can download your favorite print from Oh Finale once and then print it multiple times and in multiple sizes. Amazing! I love having this kind of flexibility, especially if you are renting and want to use the same print but perhaps in a different size in a future home.
I’m a huge fan of botanical prints,nature-inspired art and black and white imagery, and this shop delivers on all of that. I recently purchased this pineapple print in muted tones from the shop, which I think I’m going to put in our powder room. The icing on the cake is that it cost me $7.25! That’s nuts. And the shop offers a 40% discount periodically, so be sure to check ttheir Etsy shop from time to time for a coupon code.
If you’re into colorful decor and have a thing for abstract art, then you’ll love my friend Tasha’s online shop. Each print she offers is under $6, and her instant downloads can be printed in any size and as many times as you want! Again, these digital downloads in multiple sizes are great for renters, or for those of us who are constantly changing up their wall art (um, ME).
Her artwork would be perfect mixed in with a wall of black and white family photos, or alongside one of your favorite quotes. I especially like this abstract circles print in blue. The other print that caught my eye is this watercolor brushstroke number in pink — how fun would this be in a little girl’s room or a modern nursery?!
I know, I know. This used to be your favorite spot for a pun-filled graphic tee or a quirky Christmas gift for your best buds from high school.
Well, surprise, surprise! Urban Outfitters actually stocks a cool curated collection of prints, starting at $19. Just pick your print size and your frame, and that’s that. Depending on the size artwork you need, these prints can get expensive, but I couldn’t resist sharing because I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by their selection of unique and really interesting finds.
Now, if I can just find where I stashed that “Camping is in Tents” t-shirt….. (C’mon, you know you had one too!)
So there you have it: Four of my favorite online shops for affordable wall art.
