I’ve given you a few sneak peeks at our colorful and whimsical Christmas decor already.
But today’s the day where I’m sharing a few more of our festive rooms with you.
I’m joining some other color-loving bloggers in sharing our fun spaces and I couldn’t be more excited!
My friends Jewel of Jeweled Interiors and Jennifer of Dimples and Tangles host the It’s a Colorful Life Home Tour: Holiday Edition blog hop each year, and I’m so grateful they invited me to participate in the fun.
Because when it comes to Christmas decorating, I am here for it. My enthusiasm is on par with that of Buddy the Elf (but don’t worry, I don’t pour chocolate syrup on pasta noodles).
If you’re joining me here from Effortless Style, welcome! I’m so happy to have you.
How incredible is Camila’s purple tree?! I think I squealed out loud (which is embarrassing, particularly when you’re sitting in a cubicle at your office) when I saw her post earlier today.
Our colorful Christmas home tour
All right, ladies — here’s a quick tour of a few rooms in our home, all decked out for Christmas.
Make sure to scroll all the way to the end of the post to see the other participating bloggers’ home tours, too. My friend Rhoda of Southern Hospitality is next up on the tour.
The colorful Christmas home tours are SO GOOD — you won’t want to miss them!

Colorful Christmas decor: Our playroom
This was the first space we decorated for Christmas this year, and it just might be my favorite.
My two kids, ages 7 and 4, love the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
So it felt appropriate to give our playroom a dash of Wonka decor by creating a candy-themed Christmas tree.
I shared more details about our candy-themed Christmas tree in this blog post, and even posted a tutorial for making those cute DIY gumball machine Christmas ornaments.
The DIY gumball machine Christmas ornaments were so simple to make.
The kids even helped me make them … a win-win!
I also love this sweet little corner of our playroom.
I’ve had that strand of felt Christmas light garland for years and it is still one of my favorite pieces of Christmas decor.
I think it looks so adorable framing out our “ho ho ho” print — which, by the way, was a piece of printable wall art I found for $7 on Etsy.
The aqua tinsel tree sitting atop the brushed brass side table was a total steal from the Target Dollar Spot.
Colorful Christmas decor: Our dining room
Last week, I wrote an entire post about the colorful kids’ holiday tablescape I created in our dining room. Check out that post here.
We have a Christmas craft party for the kids and some of our family friends each year, so that gave me the perfect excuse to create a bright, cheerful table.
Here are a few glimpses of the table:
I started with a table cloth that the kids can color on (yes, really!) and then used a black and white scarf as a table runner.
I topped that with a strand of glittery garland from Michael’s, added some gold chargers and disposable plates, plus some cute glass milk jars with striped straws.
I created name tags for each child by painting wooden craft letters and attaching them to the milk jars with a simple strand of twine. So easy!
Here’s one more shot of our dining room for you, after I added some of our mercury glass Christmas trees to the table.
Oh, and I’m digging the fun mitten garland I strung across the mirror, too.
Colorful Christmas decor: Our family room
Here’s our family room decked our for Christmas.
Ironically enough, I have more control over the playroom tree each year, and the family room tree is, well, our “family” tree.
Meaning we put any and all special ornaments on it, whether or not they fit into any kind of theme.
I also — gasp — let my kids help decorate the tree.
Yep, that’s right. I have a “normal” tree. Some branches have two ornaments (#toddlerproblems) and Lord knows the tree isn’t color coordinated in any way …. but it makes my kids happy, and that makes me happy!
Here’s a closer peek at our family room Christmas tree. That colorful felt ball garland is from Trader Joe’s and I love it so much!
We’ve had our cute and colorful stockings for a few years now — they’re from Pottery Barn Kids. Sadly, I can’t find them listed on the site for sale anymore.
And those sweet little buffalo check reindeer? Got them last week on sale at Target!
Then there’s this little corner of our sofa with the cutest throw pillow.
It’s from Grandin Road — I bought it last year. Isn’t it so fun?! The colors make me smile.
By the way, Grandin Road has a ton of amazing holiday decor, which you should check out right here.
