Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt discouraged by Pinterest and Instagram.
Yep, me too.
(Yes, bloggers feel this way, just like you. I realize that this may be hard to believe, but trust me, the comparison bug gets me ALL the time. It’s normal, and social media makes it particularly challenging to not want to keep up with the Joneses!)
Don’t get me wrong: I looooooove social media for all the amazing decorating and organizing inspiration it provides, but some ideas that I come across feel unattainable. And that can suck. Let’s be real: I don’t have an endless budget, nor do I have a home where breakable items and delicate fabrics can be front and center (hellllllllo, toddlers!).
That said, I’m thrilled to have found a tribe of fabulously talented and creative ladies who subscribe to the same decorating mantra that I do. They all believe that it’s completely possible to create a stylish AND family-friendly home on a normal budget — one that you’re proud of, yet doesn’t feel like it should require a bunch of “do not touch” signs.
There are SO plenty of benefits to practical decorating — some of which I just mentioned — but one of the things I love most is that seemingly simple changes have the ability to make a huge impact on your home and the way you feel about your space. And the best part is that they don’t require a ton of your time or hard-earned money.

Spoiler alert: Taking advantage of whatever you’ve got in your yard is always a win. Not only is it free, but bringing seasonal blooms inside is a no brainer. Three cheers for ALL the fall feels!

Houseplants 100%. I found two amazing Chinoiserie planters at an antique store, probably $40 for the pair, and my house instantly looked like a real grown-up lived there with my new fern and African violet, haha! Turns out if you water them they'll stay alive, who knew?
